Halloran to Lead Council in 2017


The Township Council unanimously voted for Art Halloran to serve as the Council President in 2017 at their annual Reorganization Meeting held on January 10. Andrea Zapcic was chosen to serve as Council Vice President for the year.

Council President Halloran was elected to the Council in November 2015. Prior to his election to Council, Council President Halloran was appointed by Mayor Ducey to the Brick Township Planning Board, the Floodplain Management Committee, and the Hazard Mitigation Committee. Council President Halloran is a retired President of the Sony Electronics Business Solutions Company, a $500 million business. His experience led him to appreciate and practice strong fiscal responsibility.

Council Vice President Zapcic was appointed to the Township Council in 2014 to fill Mayor Ducey’s seat. She was elected in a special election later that year and won reelection in 2015. Council Vice President Zapcic serves as the Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Rahway, a position she has held since 2009. Prior to that, she served as the Superintendent of Recreation for Brick Township and as the Coordinator of the Brick Municipal Alliance.
